The search continues for an opponent who can last for more than a minute with “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, the UFC women’s bantamweight champion and most dominant fighter in women’s mixed martial arts history. Undefeated Holly Holm is up next; if you aren’t read up on her, here’s what you need to know.

5. Her Nickname Is “The Preacher’s Daughter”

Holm’s father was Bosque Farms Church of Christ for 18 years, which is where her nickname comes from. Surprisingly enough, it’s Holm’s mother who isn’t particularly fond of her chosen profession. Her dad is into it.

4. She Shares Her Coach With Jon “Bones” Jones

Holm has credited her coach Mike Winkeljohn with improving her boxing and kickboxing skills, as well as making her into a well-rounded mixed martial artist. Clearly, Winkeljohn does great work. Before Jones was suspended indefinitely he was widely considered to be the top pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC and is arguably the greatest light heavyweight of all-time.

3. She Is One Of The Greatest Women’s Boxers Ever

Holm is just 9-0 in mixed martial arts as a 33-year-old because she debuted as a boxer when she was 20, and was competing in boxing matches as recently as 2013. Her boxing record is 33-2-3 with nine knockouts. She was named Ring Magazine Female Fighter of the Year in 2005 and in 2006, and become undisputed welterweight champion as well as the champ from 140 pounds to 154 pounds in 2008.

Holm’s last loss in combat sports was in 2011 against Anne Sophie Mathis in a boxing match, where she avenged a knockout defeat six months later with a unanimous decision win in the rematch.

2. Holm Is Ranked No. 9 In The Division By UFC

Holm’s reputation clearly precedes her, because her ranking does not befit a date vs. Rousey. Part of the reason for choosing her is that Rousey’s cleaned out most of the names in front of her. Rousey has beaten Miesha Tate three times, and dispatched Cat Zingano, Alexis Davis, Sara McMann, and Bethe Correia. Holm is a decorated fighter, but still has not fully proven herself in MMA against elite opposition.

1. Holm’s Style Is Something Rousey Hasn’t Seen

Most of Rousey’s opponents have been brave women willing to charge Rousey or otherwise engage her. Tate has been the most successful; she had meaningful exchanges in their third fight, and took her past Round 1. Holm is a respected boxer, but she isn’t some savage knockout queen. She has just nine KOs in 38 pro fights.

Holm is far and away the best boxer Rousey will have faced in her career, and Holm likes to pick opponents apart from the outside. Now it’s very likely Rousey’s good enough in the stand-up to get inside and take Holm down, but it’s at least a different look than Rousey’s seen.
