Los Angeles Lakers Short Sleeve Jerseys [VIDEO]? NBA Most Visible Franchise Getting New Look

The same way LeBron James and Kevin Durant could be considered the "faces" of the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles Lakers franchise can be considered the most prominent team in the NBA.

So maybe now the short-sleeve jersey push will finally hit home with NBA fans-the Lakers will be rocking sleeves "several" times this season, according to reports.

The new short-sleeved, adizero jerseys designed by Adidas are supposed to be 26 percent lighter than traditional NBA jerseys, encouraging freer movement as well as less on-court fatigue. The Golden State Warriors were the first team to boldly rock the shocking new look, and the Phoenix Suns have already unveiled a new alternate, short-sleeved uniform.

Fans who hate the sleeves might just have to get used to them; according to a league source Adidas has designs on short-sleeve alternates for all 10 teams participating in Christmas day games.

Steve Nash, apparently the fashionista du jour of the Lakers believes in free will with regards to jersey choices. "I don't see why we all need the same tailor, as long as it's pretty uniform," Nash said. "I'm sure within reason."

Nash regularly wore a t-shirt under his jersey when he played college ball at Santa Clara, so he's not likely to be affected by some sleeves on the court. "It's not one of those things I'm going to lose any sleep over," Nash said. "Basically, we're an entertainment industry. So, you know, you got to make products that people can wear. Things are going to continually change."

If the Lakers can pile up some victories in the new duds perhaps they will switch to them full time. Without Dwight Howard, and with Kobe Bryant's return up in the air, perhaps a fresh look will boost the team's morale and performance.
