The third day of the 2015 PGA Championship came to a close on Saturday, with Jason Day opening a two-stroke lead.
PGA Championship Round 2 Recap
In typical fashion, Jordan Spieth surged near the top of the leaderboard, finishing in second place. At 12-under par, Justin Rose and Branden Grace also remain in contention. Below is a recap of the third day's events.
Jason Day vs. Jordan Spieth
This is the third time Day has gone into the final round of a major championship with his name atop the leaderboard—the previous two coming at The Masters and U.S. Open Championship. It was Spieth, however, that lifted both trophies.
Entering familiar territory, both are well aware of the pressure that lies ahead on Sunday.
"I've got to focus on round four," Day said, per PGATour.com. "Everything I need to do is just make sure that I focus and prepare myself for tomorrow [Sunday]."
Spieth's focus remains on making history. The 21-year-old has the opportunity to become the first player to win all three American-based majors in a calendar year since Ben Hogan in 1953.
"[My goal is] just to try to get my name on the Wanamaker Trophy, that's about it," Spieth said. "That's the only history I'll be thinking of when we step on the first tee is you can hoist that trophy tomorrow [Sunday] and make it happen. I'll go into tomorrow strictly for the history piece of trying to get my name on a different major."
