The NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase continues Sunday with the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway in a race that consists of 200 laps at the 2-mile track.
There have been 46 different pole winners at Michigan International Speedway, and Jeff Gordon is the last person to win from the pole when he did so last August.
With adrenaline at an all-time high and a lot of anticipation building toward the event, here's a look at three key storylines to watch for at the Pure Michigan 400:
1) Can Gordon Do It Again?
Gordon won this race on Aug. 17, 2014, but that was also his second-to-last victory to date. Gordon enters this race in search of his first win this season after setting a NASCAR qualifying record for all tracks with a field-setting speed of 206.558 mph.
Will Gordon finally get the monkey off his back, or will last year's winner continue to chase his first win of the season?
2) Tony Stewart Turnaround?
It's no secret that Stewart has had his fair share of set-backs and troubles this season, but Michigan has always been kind to the racing star. Stewart has shown improvements and even qualified at Watkins Glen last week, though he also placed last in the race.
Stewart has won at Michigan once in the past, back in 2000, and has finished in the top-five 12 times and has also has placed in the top-20 on 10 occasions. In order to make ground in the Chase, Stewart will have to win one of his next four races.
3) What's Next For Kyle Busch?
Busch is finally in the top-30, making him eligible for the Chase to the Sprint Cup and he enters Sunday's event looking for his fifth victory. Considering Busch suffered a broken right leg and fractured left foot at Daytona in February, it's remarkable that he's eligible to remain in the Chase.
Busch may contemplate changing up his technique to protect his position in the Chase as he continues to attempt to stay within the top-30 and increase his standing.
