The good days/bad days reports on Colin Kaepernick's progress continue during training camp. Count Thursday as one of the good days.

SFGate.com reported that the 49ers starting quarterback was stellar during the Niners' practice.

Colin Kaepernick, 49ers deny report of altercation between QB, Aldon Smith

"Kaepernick was scary consistent with back-shoulder throws and touch passes over the middle," SFGate.com reported. "He threw a pair of touchdowns with touch, one to tight end Vernon Davis and another running back Carlos Hyde, who initially dropped the ball but eventually hauled in the bobbled pass off the hands of cornerback Tramaine Brock."

Kaepernick's passing skills have been under intense scrutiny ever since he began working with quarterback coach Dennis Gile and two-time NFL MVP Kurt Warner during the offseason to help him polish his pocket-passing work.

Aldon Smith's ex-girlfriend reportedly seeing Colin Kaepernick, leading to speculation of fight between former teammates

Teammates have raved about his new technique, form and delivery, but critics maintain they need to see that from him in an actual game. The 49ers take on the Texans in a preseason game Saturday night, giving their quarterback a brief shot of honing his skills under game-like conditions.

"I think I made a lot of strides in a lot of different areas," Kaepernick said in an interview with Ninersnation.com. "It's really trying to put the complete package together, get comfortable with the offense, get comfortable with new weapons, get comfortable with the new language. All of those things have played a factor into what we've been working towards to get ready for the season."

Kaepernick also has had to deal with an issue involving former teammate Aldon Smith, denying reports that Smith trashed his vehicle over a fight regarding allegations that Kaepernick is dating Smith's ex-girlfriend.

"Well, if I was a reporter I would go about things logically and I would realize that I have a deal with Jaguar. I've had it for a few years now. So, I wouldn't be driving a Mercedes. I would also realize that we didn't have practice on Thursday, so no one was at the facility.

"So, along those lines, I feel like anyone that believes that and goes about that, reporting that is, just doesn't have the best integrity in my mind. I mean, to try to prey on athletes' livelihoods while one is going through a tough time is embarrassing to me for people that do report that and put that out there and jumped on that bandwagon just to get internet clicks and get attention to their website or reports. It really is embarrassing that people do that."
