Aaron Hernandez Case Update: Gun Used In Boston Double Murder Linked To Frmer New England Player Found In Springfield

Police have recovered the gun alleged to have been used in a 2012 Boston double-murder involving former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez who is already in jail.

According to reports, police found the .38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver in a black briefcase in the trunk of a vehicle involved in a car accident in Springfield on June 21.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Jailene Diaz-Ramos and added the weapon was immediately sent for ballistics testing where it was confirmed as the weapon used in the Boston killing.

According to court documents, Diaz-Ramos told investigators the gun belonged to a friend she knew as “Chicago” and he and his friends were all football players. Diaz-Ramos has since been arraigned for illegal possession of a gun and ammunition.

Police have already charged Hernandez with first-degree murder in the execution style slaying of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd and he remains jailed without bail.

Authorities have speculated Lloyd may have been killed because he knew of Hernandez’s alleged involvement in the Boston slayings.  The Patriots have severed all ties with Hernandez and team executives have moved to legally void the remainder of the five year $40 million extension he signed in 2012.
