Despite competing for domestic and European glory, seemingly everyone has been tipped to depart Real Madrid. Toni Kroos and Asier Illarramendi are just the latest pair of Galacticos linked with a potential transfer to Merseyside.
Below are all the details surrounding Liverpool's summer transfer policy.
Mario Balotelli €2 Million Loan Deal With Lazio
Toni Kroos
Toni Kroos made 36 league appearances for Madrid last season, finishing with seven assists and an average of two key passes. Somehow, that level of productivity is dispensable according to the English press.
Marco Reus Talks Over £47.8 Million Deal
The Daily Express, per Metro, have linked the German international with a shock deal to Anfield. Per the reports, Manchester United have joined the fold and prepared to table an offer of £35 million.
Asier Illarramendi
A more realistic possibility in midfield for Liverpool, however, is the expendable talent of Asier Illarramendi.
The 25-year-old moved to Madrid in 2013, but has been told he has no future at the Santiago Bernabeu, per the Daily Mirror. Brendan Rodgers is reportedly prepared to launch a £14.2 million bid for Illarramendi, who has fallen behind Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro in the Spanish pecking order.
Fabio Borini
In order to fund the Illarramendi move, Rodgers must first offload the dead weight he boasts at striker.
Fabio Borini has been linked with a host of Italian clubs—including Bologna and Lazio—but it's Fiorentina who first touched base with the 24-year-old. That much was revealed by Borini's agent, Marco De Marchi, on Wednesday.
"Yes, we have spoken to Fiorentina, but are evaluating everything carefully," Marchi said, per the Daily Star. "Fabio will decide also based on Liverpool's needs. We are looking for an important project in Italy or elsewhere, but for the moment he doesn't have a preference."
