The Minnesota Vikings (0-1) will travel to Buffalo (1-0) to take on the Bills for some Week 2 preseason action at 7:00 p.m.. Live stream the game here; Vikings fans can hear the game on KFAN100.3 FM, while Bills fans can tune in to Kiss 98.5 FM.
After an impressive showing last week against the Indianapolis Colts in a full half of play, rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel will take a backseat tonight at the outset as the Bills give veteran Kevin Kolb his opportunity to shine.
Kolb will have to play well to hold off Manuel, who took full advantage of his extended time on the field. Manuel completed 16 of his 21 pass attempts for 107 yards and a touchdown. He also showed off his wheels at certain points, carrying the ball three times for 28 yards.
That mobility is one reason the Bills shocked the NFL not only by drafting him ahead of Geno Smith, but taking him 16th overall. Manuel was the only quarterback taken in the first round of the 2013 draft.
Running back C.J. Spiller looked electric as well, averaging nine yards per carry. Spiller is a speed-demon getting his first opportunity as a pro at carrying the load full-time as a bell-cow back.
In Minnesota there isn't much controversy anywhere for the Vikes, who are looking to build on a season in which they surprised many by earning a playoff berth. They loaded up in the passing game on offense; while they did trade 2012's No. 1 wide receiver Percy Harvin to Seattle, they added Greg Jennings in free agency and used one of their three first-round picks on Tennessee wideout Cordarrelle Patterson.
There also could be a potential quarterback question if Matt Cassel, who was 12-of-19 for 212 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Week 1, can shine and apply pressure on incumbent Christian Ponder.
