Tonight at 8:05 p.m. ET, the Houston Astros (60-46) and Texas Rangers (51-53) open up a three-game set as the battle for Lone Star State supremacy begins live from Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Houston opens up a 10-game road trip and has won two straight contests while Texas resumes a 10-match homestand having won four of its last five games.

The Astros took two of three from the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend while the Rangers notched the same result against the San Francisco Giants.

Lance McCullers (5-3, 2.48 ERA) takes the ball for Houston while Texas counters with Colby Lewis and he is 11-4 on the campaign with a 4.32 ERA.

McCullers hurled seven innings of one-run ball in a victory against the rival Los Angeles Angels in his last outing on July 19.

Lewis, meanwhile, owns a 2-0 record with a 2.78 ERA against Houston this season and he has earned three consecutive victories since the All-Star break.

Lewis faces a Houston lineup that is paced by second baseman Jose Altuve, who has a team-best .299 batting average and ranks first in the American League with 28 stolen bases. Catcher Evan Gattis is third in the AL with seven triples and leads the club with 59 RBI.

Texas counters with a lineup that is led by first baseman Prince Fielder, who is second in the AL with a .326 batting average and 130 hits while ranking tied for third with a .399 on-base percentage.

In the standings, Houston enters in first place in the AL West and owns a four-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels while third-place Texas is eight games out of the division race and three contests back in the wild-card.
