Tonight at 8:08 p.m. ET, the Washington Nationals (54-48) and New York Mets (54-50) battle for National League East supremacy in the third and final game of their series live from Citi Field in Queens.

Washington looks to avoid a sweep as it finishes up a 10-game road trip while New York hopes to go 3-for-3 against its adversary in the set as it closes out a six-game homestand.

The Mets defeated the Nationals 2-1 in 12 innings on Friday and followed it up with a 3-2 triumph on Saturday.

This game, which airs on Sunday Night Baseball, can be live streamed for free here.

Washington enters with a one-game lead over New York in the NL East, adding to the drama of the proceedings as Terry Collins' club looks to earn a share of first place.

The almost-traded Wilmer Flores played hero for the Mets with a 12th inning walk-off homer on Friday and Lucas Duda followed it up with some fireworks of his own on Saturday.

Duda hit two homers and drove in the game-winning run on a double. The first baseman now has 20 long-balls on the season.

Ian Desmond had both RBI for the Nationals in the loss on Saturday while Yoenis Cespedes went 0-for-3 in his Mets debut after being aquired on Friday in a trade with the Detroit Tigers.

Jordan Zimmermann (8-6, 3.36 ERA) takes the ball for Washington tonight while New York counters with Noah Syndergaard and he is 5-5 with a 2.70 ERA thus far on the campaign.

Zimmermann is 1-0 in two starts against the Mets this season and he has yielded four earned runs in 13 innings.

Syndergaard, who pitched against Zimmermann and the Nationals 12 days ago, is coming in off of a start where he pitched eight scoreless innings and threw nine strikeouts. The right-hander held Washington to one run in five innings last time he faced them, but he received a no-decision.

Syndergaard faces a Washington lineup that is paced by right fielder Bryce Harper, who ranks first in the MLB in slugging percentage (.677) and OPS (1.135). Harper also leads the NL with 29 round-trippers, 69 runs and 222 total bases.

Though he's third in the NL with 108 strikeouts, Duda has been on fire as of late for New York. Duda's 20 homers and 48 RBI lead the team.

The Nationals hope to avoid the sweep while the Mets look to notch a share of first place in the NL East when these teams battle it out live tonight from Citi Field in Queens.
