What They're Saying
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique (via the club's official website): "[The team can improve] everywhere. Pressure, moving the ball around. There are things that change every day and we have to work out how to deal with them. I liked the team because we have been intense and we did not commit any serious errors, but we can improve in all areas. Furthermore, it's the only way for us. Without any doubt, we will be the team to beat and we have to keep so we have to improve on the field."
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal (via Goal): "Bastian [Schweinsteiger] shall not play because he had a little injury. I shall play with the lineup I think we could play against Spurs [on the first day of the Premier League season]. We play the first half with players for 60 minutes. I have to make a selection now. When a player is injured, it's the same thing. You have to wait in the season. I give players time to recover and build up their fitness."
Tactical Preview
Player to Watch: With Schweinsteiger injured, van Gaal will turn to Michael Carrick in midfield. In 18 appearances last season, the 33-year-old averaged 1.4 tackles and 1.7 interceptions.
Manchester United's Projected Lineup (4-2-3-1): Johnstone; Shaw, Smalling, Jones, Darmian; Schneiderlin, Carrick; Young, Mata, Depay; Rooney
Barcelona's Projected Lineup (4-3-3): Masip; Douglas, Pique, Vermaelen, Alba; Rakatic, Busquets, Iniesta; Pedro, Suarez, El Haddadi
