This Sunday night the WWE may be presenting Battleground, but it's never too early to look ahead to the biggest event of the season, SummerSlam.

3 Potential Matches For WWE SummerSlam

For the first time in six years, the WWE won't present The Biggest Party of the Summer from Los Angeles as it will instead emanate from Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Aug. 23. It will mark the first New York version of the event since 2002.

The WWE has treated SummerSlam with the respect that it should over the years, providing many twists and turns that is only rivaled by WrestleMania on the annual pay-per-view/WWE Network calendar.

5 Best New York Moments In SummerSlam History

Here are five athletes and Superstars we'd like to see compete at the WWE's biggest event of the summer. Be sure to click the slideshow in the upper right corner as well.

5) Triple H

Since taking over as an authority figure on-screen and an executive behind the scenes, The Game hasn't dusted off his wrestling boots much aside from a few bouts at WrestleMania.

With SummerSlam being the summer equivalent of The Show of Shows, it seems like a prime time for Triple H to step back into the ring.

There have been rumors that Triple H will take on his protégé Seth Rollins in a match that would be highly-anticipated and over a year in the making, but until it's official, the Cerebral Assassin remains on the wish list.

Probability: Likely

4) Brock Lesnar

It seems like a no-brainer that The Beast will be a part of the biggest event of the summer, but with his title match with Rollins happening a month early and due to the part-time nature of his contract, nothing is guaranteed.

There have been rumors that The Beast will battle Rollins again or take on Randy Orton at SummerSlam, though now that he's competing against The Architect at Battleground, a layer of uncertainty has been added.

Still, Vince McMahon wouldn't pour so much money into Lesnar without having him be a huge focal point of SummerSlam.

Probability: Highly Likely

3) Ronda Rousey

Rowdy was a huge part of WrestleMania 31, getting involved in a segment with The Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and knocking The Billionaire Princess and The Game down, seemingly setting something up down the road.

Rousey, the reigning UFC Women's Bantamweight champion also appeared at SummerSlam last year in Los Angeles, helping McMahon complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

While Dana White said the WrestleMania appearance was a "one-off" and Rousey has a very busy schedule, she still has some unfinished business in the squared circle and it would be highly entertaining to see her wrestle in the ring, though it would likely happen at WrestleMania 32, if at all.

Probability: Highly Unlikely

2) The Rock

Much like Rousey, The Rock has some interesting issues with the leaders of The Authority. The Brahma Bull and The Game even rekindled their rivalry in October on SmackDown in the Barclays Center and hinted at a future clash.

With the WWE returning to Brooklyn for SummerSlam, it would be interesting to see the two go one-on-one in the very place they re-opened their history. More layers were also added onto the feud with the in-ring segment at WrestleMania 31.

The Rock's busy schedule and Triple H's rumored match with Rollins makes it a long-shot, but it would still be nice to see The Rock have his first SummerSlam bout since losing to Lesnar in 2002. Like with Rousey, if this were to occur, it'd likely be saved for WrestleMania 32.

Probability: Highly Unlikely

1) The Undertaker

The Demon from Death Valley only seems to come around during WrestleMania season, but it would be nice to have his presence felt at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

The Undertaker hasn't been seen since he took out Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31, bouncing back from having The Streak ended by Brock Lesnar the year before.

'Taker hasn't competed at SummerSlam since 2008, so it would be a nice change of pace to have The Deadman invade Brooklyn to cool off the summer party.

Probability: Unlikely

Who knows what will happen between now and Aug. 23, but the anticipation for SummerSlam continues to grow as the season rolls on.
