Deflategate may cost Tom Brady more than a tarnished legacy and a four-game suspension. It also may cost him a Country Club membership.

The Boston Globe reported that the New England Patriots quarterback and supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen have applied to join The Country Club in Brookline, an establishment just outside of Boston which is "just an errant tee shot away" from the couple's mansion.

Tom Brady to consider lawsuit against the NFL if cleared of wrongdoing in Deflategate?

The Country Club in Brookline is noted for securing privacy and discretion for its members. But because of the Patriots power couple's fame, they are trailed almost constantly invading paparazzi and/or controversy - such as Deflategate.

Brady is awaiting a decision from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell whether to uphold, reduce or eliminate his four-game suspension for his role in Patriots footballs being tested as underinflated - allegedly on purpose - at halftime of the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Is a one-game suspension inevitable for Tom Brady?

As such, one prominent Boston businessman is amused by the club's predicament, telling the Globe, "I don't know what they'll do about Brady. The Country Club believes your name should appear in the newspaper just two times: When you're born and when you die."

Two members of The Country Club, also speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the couple had applied for membership, but a decision has not yet been reached.

"When it comes to issues related to members or membership, it's our policy not to comment," David Chag, the general manager of The Country Club and de facto spokesman, told the Globe. "It's a private club, and we don't answer those kinds of questions."

The couple's financial worth - Bundchen is estimated at $320 million, the Globe reports, using Forbes as a source, and Brady is not far behind - is irrelevant to the application process, members told the Globe.

"All TCC applicants must be sponsored by two current club members and provide the admissions committee with testimonials from seven other people with whom the applicant has a personal - not business - relationship," the Globe reported. "As part of the process, applicants also have to schmooze with the dozen or so members of the admissions committee at a cocktail reception held at the club. Applicants' names are circulated among all the members, but the admissions committee finally decides."

The media frenzy over Deflategate, the members tell the Globe" could be counted against the Bradys.
