Jon “Bones” Jones has been mostly quiet since getting his UFC light heavyweight title stripped and being suspended indefinitely in May, but his name is once again coming up in super fight rumors despite not even being reinstated yet.

UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum tweeted about Jones to his fans, asking their opinion of a “super fight.”

Jones has discussed a super fight in the past, but the talk always centered on former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who lost to Wedum at UFC 188 on June 13. Werdum could potentially be an even bigger problem for Jones if he moved up because unlike Velasquez, Jones would be outweighed by a wide margin and also wouldn’t have a significant height advantage.

Jones has also been mentioned in a super fight with undefeated middleweight champion Chris Weidman, who is expected to face Luke Rockhold in his next fight, but has cleaned out the majority of his weight class.

None of these fights are possible until Jones earns his way back to the UFC, which may take a long time. In addition to crashing his car in a hit-and-run that injured a pregnant woman, Jones earned bad press after fighting Daniel Cormier in January when it was revealed he had failed a drug test prior to the bout.

Jones did reappear on social media a few weeks ago smiling, but those close to him have not ruled out Jones never returning to the UFC.

"I'm looking forward to Jon turning his life around and becoming a better person. Is he fighting again or not? I'm not sure. That's not important. What is important right now is that Jon takes care of himself and his family,” his coach Mike Winkeljohn said.
