Danny Green doesn't sound like a man who is content to continue his current job as a role player in the NBA.

The San Antonio Express-News is reporting that the San Antonio Spurs' sharpshooter, who is scheduled to become a free agent on July 1, is hoping to capitalize on what he calls "a career peak" with his next contract.

Tony Parker believes Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili will return for final season with San Antonio Spurs

Which could mean that he has played his last game for the San Antonio Spurs.

The Express-News noted that Green celebrated his 28th birthday on Monday, a factor which could be important in his free-agent process.

"I'm not getting any younger, that's for sure," the Spurs shooting guard told the newspaper in a telephone interview.

The Express-News added that several league executives from both the Eastern and Western Conferences have expressed interest in signing Green, who played a major role in the Spurs' 2012-13 NBA finals appearance and the 2013-14 NBA championship season.

"I hope it doesn't get too crazy," he said. "You don't want to count on things in advance, but I just hope I can capitalize on I guess what you'd call a career peak."

Green averaged 11.1 points per game during the 2012-13 postseason, hitting 48.2 percent of his 3-point attempts. In the 2013-14 playoffs, he averaged 9.3 points per game, hit 47.5 percent of his 3-point shots and 49.2 percent of his field goals overall.

In 2014-15, Green established a career high in the regular season, averaging 11.7 points per game.

He completed a three-year, $11.3 million deal with the Spurs this past season and said he hasn't ruled out re-signing with San Antonio.

"They have expressed that they'd love to have me back and I'd love to be back," Green said. "They have some things they want to do, I have some things I want to do. It's a matter of the timetable, the money situation, how things go."

The Spurs still are waiting to find out whether fellow free agents Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili will return, they are expected to sign Kawhi Leonard to a max contract and still could be pursuing free agents LaMarcus Aldridge or Marc Gasol.

"It becomes next to impossible to wedge a hefty raise for Green onto the payroll as well," the Express-News suggests.
