It's possible that the Buffalo Bills hired the wrong man. And that Rob Ryan isn't the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.

The Buffalo News, in a detailed article about the Ryan family of the NFL, reports that it's possible that brothers Rex and Ryan were switched at birth.

When the boys' father, former Philadelphia Eagles coach Buddy Ryan, was an assistant at the University of Buffalo, according to the report, he was often on recruiting trips and was absent for some of their mother Doris' pregnancy.

Doris when home to her mother in Ardmore, Okla., to have the babies in a hospital there.

According to the Buffalo News:

"The twins' birth certificates show Rex was born five minutes ahead of Rob. But there is no guarantee which one truly is which.

The Bills' new coach might actually be Rob. The Saints' defensive coordinator might actually be Rex.

There's a good chance Buddy and Doris mixed them up. On multiple occasions.

For a while, Rex and Rob were identified as Baby A and Baby B in the hospital."

Doris told the Buffalo News she felt as if the nurses sometimes brought the same baby for feedings.

"The nurse would take one away when I was done feeding and bring me the other one," Doris said, "and I'd swear, 'I think I just fed this baby.' "

The brothers don't seem too concerned about who's who.

"I would've had a better name," said Rex, who became the Buffalo Bills coach in the offseason, right after being fired by the New York Jets. "We've laughed about it before. I probably really am Rob, and he's Rex. Isn't that funny, though? Who knows?"

With Rex's unwavering enthusiasm, it could be worth a shot for the two to try to switch now to get Rob what has so far been an elusive head coaching job.
