Dwight Howard's Former Los Angeles Lakers Teammate Antawn Jamison Also Critical of Organization's Lack of Support

Dwight Howard isn't the only former Los Angeles Laker who felt that the organization didn't support him.

Antawn Jamison criticized the Lakers over his undefined role last season. He talked to Sporting News, discussing his disappointment with the way the 2012-13 season unfolded.

It's a lesson he hopes to apply for the upcoming season as he assesses his options.

"I think last year, getting the opportunity to play for the Lakers and their organization, I really jumped into it," Jamison said. "Didn't really view my options, but this year I really want to make sure I'm going to the right situation, where I have a good rapport with the coaching staff and also with management I'm able to communicate and get an understanding of what they want from me.

"Because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it's the perfect fit, so I really want to make sure the next team I go to, whether it's a one- or two-year deal, that it's a really good fit and we have an understanding with each other as well. That's why you really have to take your time and key into what's best not just for me but for my family as well."

Jamison, who has averaged 18.8 points and 7.6 rebounds during his 15-year NBA career, had career lows of 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds with Los Angeles last season. Sporting News reported that Jamison was outspoken about his lack of playing time under coach Mike D'Antoni.

That played a larger role than his lingering wrist injury, he said.

When asked whether last season was fun for him in Los Angeles, Jamison - whom Sporting News says is considered a good guy around the league - tried to be somewhat diplomatic.

"It was fun," Jamison said. "There was just a lot of unnecessary nonsense that really prevented us from accomplishing what we could have accomplished. Of course you can't do anything with injuries and the coaches being fired ...

"You see it," he said. "Every week there was something new."

The Bulls, Clippers, Grizzlies and Bobcats have all showed interest in the 37-year-old free agent, probasketballtalk.com has reported.
