It appeared as though Goldberg was on the verge of returning to the squared circle in 2014, but things hit a wall.

Hulk Hogan Says He Would Love A WrestleMania 32 In-Ring Return

The former WCW and WWE star recently talked about his discussions with Triple H regarding a possible appearance at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome which hit a snag.

There had been speculation that negotiations between the two sides ended negatively and that there was some bad blood there, but Goldberg said there was even recently a conversation between the two that went nowhere.

Steve Austin Hints At Match With Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 32

"I had a conversation with Paul [Levesque] recently and I said, 'Listen, I'm willing to put everything aside. If you guys want to sit down and make some money and have some fun, then let's do it. My son wants to see me wrestle, and I'm willing to put all the bad feelings aside. If you guys want to move forward and do this thing the right way, then let's talk.' And that's the way it ended," Goldberg told Sports Illustrated's Extra Mustard Blog. "There's nothing there. Truthfully, I don't even think they want me to come, period. I'm just not of them. The fact that I'm not far outweighs the financial gain, which they truly may not even believe is there. And I'm good with that. I'm absolutely fine with that."

Goldberg burst on the scene in WCW in 1997 and went on a legendary 173-0 streak that was ended when Kevin Nash reportedly booked himself to beat him for the WCW Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade 1998 with outside help from Scott Hall.

After WCW went under in 2001, Goldberg remained absent from mainstream wrestling until he resurfaced in the WWE in 2003. He had a short stint with the company, staying until WrestleMania XX in 2004, but it included a WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign.

Goldberg said he believes that the WWE is trying to diminish his impact in wrestling.

"That's the way I feel," Goldberg said. "I'm surely not going to be somebody who pounds his chest and professes I was somebody who couldn't be replaced, but I think I made a difference. For that character, nobody could do it better. So to not get the credit for the impact that I helped make is frustrating."

While there is some bad blood between Goldberg and the WWE, he said he would do a Hall of Fame induction in an instant if the company ever contacted him with the concept.

"I don't have a time limit and age is just a number for me," he said. "If the Hall of Fame presents itself, then I'll do it in a heartbeat. But it's not something where I sit here and go, 'Man, I wish the WWE would induct me in the Hall of Fame.' I don't think about what I would say in my speech or who would induct me. I don't think about that, by no stretch of the imagination."

Goldberg, 48, is a one-time WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

The WWE Universe may be wondering who's next, but it seems for now they'll have to keep waiting for a Goldberg return.
