Now that he's back on the Gang Green side of the rivalry, New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis didn't hold back when asked about the practices of his former team, the New England Patriots.
Revis, who left the Jets for two years to play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Patriots and is fresh off of a Super Bowl win with New England, didn't mince words and brought the Patriots' history of cheating into light when asked about Deflategate.
The cornerback spoke to the New York Daily News and didn't have much sympathy for his former team, bringing their history into light.
"Everybody's blowing it [Deflategate] up because it is Tom Brady," Revis said. "I understand that. But if [the NFL] feels he did the crime or he did something and they want to penalize them, then that's that. [The Patriots] have a history of doing stuff. You can't hide that. ... Tom was there when they did that stuff in the past. ... Stuff repeatedly happened through the years. You got Spygate, you got this and that and everything else."
The Patriots were fined $1 million, lost their 2016 first round and 2017 fourth round picks and Brady was suspended four games in the aftermath of the investigation into the team using underinflated footballs during their 45-7 AFC Championship Game victory over the Indianapolis Colts in January.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft said the team will no longer fight the punishment, but Brady plans to appeal his ban.
New England went on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 in Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1 in Arizona, the fourth Super Bowl in franchise history, with a last-second interception on their own goal line sealing the win.
Just over a month after winning his first Lombardi Trophy with the Patriots, Revis crossed back to the other side of the rivalry after new Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan signed him to a five-year $70 million deal with $39 million guaranteed on March 10 to bring him back to New York.
Revis, 29, has 23 interceptions for 367 yards and three touchdowns in 111 games in his career.
