CM Punk has plenty going on. "The Best in the World" is actively preparing for his first UFC fight and he also is writing for Marvel's Drax The Destroyer.

The former WWE Superstar-turned-UFC fighter recently opened up about all of these upcoming projects in an interview with SB Nation.

Punk said he talked to former WWE Superstar Batista, who played Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy as he began to work on the project for Marvel.

"Oh, yeah. Yeah," Punk said. "And I texted Dave [Bautista] right away. "Dude, I'm gonna be writing the Drax comic book!" And he was like, "No way!" So yeah, it's definitely bizarre. It's almost one of those stories where you wouldn't be able to make this up."

Punk, who walked out on the WWE in January 2014 and then signed a deal with UFC that December, said he also spoke with "The Animal" about transitioning into the mixed martial arts realm.

"Oh yeah, absolutely. I'm trying to remember ... It might have been a little less than a year ago," Punk said about reaching out. "I think he was doing a Comic Con out here in Chicago and he came over just so we could hang out for a little bit. Yeah, I talked to him about it. This was before I made the announcement [that I was signing UFC]. I was heavily thinking about it, so I was -- without spilling the beans to him, because I wasn't sure what I was going to do -- I was asking him all kinds of questions. Because he was in the same situation I was in, coming from the pro wrestling background, a little bit older than he probably should have been [starting out], just like I am. So there's a lot of similarities, so he gave me a lot of advice to help me out."

Batista returned to the WWE in January 2014 and won the Royal Rumble Match on what proved to be Punk's last night with the company. "The Animal" remained in the WWE until June when he went to promote the Guardians of the Galaxy film, and he hasn't returned since.

Punk talked about many subjects, but one thing he wouldn't delve into is his apparent vendetta with Jason David Frank, who played the original green ranger on Power Rangers.

"Eh. Skip it. Next question," he said.

Punk has vowed to never return to the WWE again after walking out on the company due to being frustrated over his creative use as well as being expected to work hurt all the time.

His first foray into the UFC world is slated for sometime later this year, but a date and an opponent have yet to be determined. Punk was asked what he thought the toughest part about training was.

"I think it's being well-rounded. Getting my reaction time down for stuff," he said. "I know when I do stuff wrong, or when I'm in a bad position. It's just fighting out of those positions and really putting it all together. Every day, training my ass off to be ready. It's not going to happen overnight, that's why I train every day."
