The Denver Nuggets and pint-sized combo guard Nate Robinson have agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract according to reports.
Robinson, who had the finest season of his eight-year NBA career with the Chicago Bulls last season while serving as a replacement for the injured Derrick Rose, is moving his high-flying act to the mile high Denver air.
In 2012-2013 Robinson averaged 13.1 points and 4.1 assists per game, and his scoring rose whenever one of the Bulls top offensive weapons would succumb to injury. Robinson brought intensity to the Bulls each night, and upped his scoring each month from December through April.
In these past playoffs, Robinson dropped 16.3 points and 4.4 assists per game, including a 34-point outburst in Game 4 of the first round, in which the injury-depleted Bulls upset the veteran-heavy Brooklyn Nets in seven games.
Robinson took to Twitter upon inking his new deal, expressing his gratitude to the Bulls and a love for the city and its players. "Chicago will always have a place in my heart I'm a miss all my teammates it was a treat playing along side of all of them all stand up guys."
A second tweet followed that read, "I know the nba is a Business but when u build friendships with guys on the team it's hard to say goodbye ... Thanks again chitown one love."
The Nuggets have Ty Lawson firmly entrenched as their starting point guard with veteran Andre Miller to back him up, so Robinson figures to play as a sixth man at the two-guard spot. A height-challenged backcourt of Lawson and Robinson figures to be too vulnerable defensively, despite the chaos it could create on the offensive end.
Robinson is familiar with some of his "new" teammates. As a member of the Knicks Robinson played with Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler.
