Zac Stacy got his wish on Saturday. Yikes.

NFL.com reported that the St. Louis Rams traded their disgruntled, third-year running back to the New York Jets on Saturday for a seventh-round draft choice.

St. Louis presents last-ditch effort to keep Rams from leaving for Los Angeles?

The move comes two days after Stacy, the Rams' leading rusher in 2013, posted a one-word tweet after St. Louis drafted Georgia running back Todd Gurley with the 10th pick of the NFL draft on Thursday night.

To his credit, Stacy deleted that post and issued a much more appropriate post in saying goodbye to St. Louis on Saturday.

Stacy, a fifth-round draft pick of the Rams in the 2013 draft, led the team with 973 rushing yards his rookie season. He started 2014 season as the Rams starter but was benched in favor of Tre Mason, St. Louis' third-round pick in the 2014 draft.

Stacy finished with just 293 rushing yards last season. He handled his second-string assignment with the utmost professionalism, St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher said, according to AL.com.

"Looking back over the years," Fisher said, "I don't know if I remember a player that handled the circumstances that he handled last year, that in essence was what we'd refer to as a demotion, better than Zac from a team standpoint."

In New York, Stacy joins a backfield that includes Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Darryl Richardson and New England Patriots free agent Stevan Ridley, who is coming off offseason knee surgery.

Ivory led the Jets with 821 rushing yards last season.

"We thought the idea of bringing Zac in for that kind of investment would be very beneficial and increase the competition at that position," Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan told espn.com. "He's had success in the league. Two years ago, he was close to a 1,000-yard back. This past season, his production wasn't quite as high, but we do think he's a good-caliber running back."

The Rams used their seventh-round pick on Baylor linebacker Bryce Hager.
