Rumors circulated on Monday that Seth Rollins' Curb Stomp has been banned and more credence was given to the speculation after the WWE World Heavyweight Champion used a different finisher on Monday Night RAW.

5 Greatest Moments of AJ Lee's WWE Career

According to Dave Metzler of The Wrestling Observer, Rollins' Curb Stomp isn't officially banned, but the WWE is focusing on expanding his move set so that there is no longer such an emphasis on the finisher.

Rollins will instead mostly be using the DDT-face-buster type maneuver he used on the WWE's flagship show to put away Dolph Ziggler this week in the main event of RAW from Albany.

Per Metzler, the Curb Stomp issue is a "semantic situation" and the WWE doesn't want to draw attention to the move not being used often, but it is not "officially" banned despite the fact that it likely won't be utilized much.

Rollins is set to battle Randy Orton this Sunday night in a Steel Cage match at Extreme Rules live from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill.

There are multiple layers to the bout as ironically enough Orton's RKO is banned from the match in storyline while Kane will be the guardian of the gate on the outside to further prevent interference.

This will mark Rollins' first huge high-profile title defense since he shocked the world and cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 31 to turn the Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns main event bout into a Triple Threat Match.

Rollins defeated Reigns after hitting him with the Curb Stomp and left Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. as the new champion on March 29.

"The Viper" had defeated "The Architect" earlier in the night in what was arguably the best finishing sequence of the match as Orton reversed the Curb Stomp into a scintillating RKO for the pinfall win.

Orton dropped the belt at WrestleMania XXX last April in New Orleans in a Triple Threat Match with Batista and Daniel Bryan.

Orton wasn't involved in the decision for the contest as Bryan made Batista tap to win the gold. Orton was also never granted a rematch, giving him even more of a claim to the title after dropping Rollins at this year's edition of the "Show of Shows."

Rollins' Curb Stomp isn't officially banned, but it's doubtful he'll use it in the cage this Sunday against Orton at Extreme Rules.
