Adrian Peterson should find out in the coming days what his NFL future will be. The star back is expected to be reinstated, and it is not believed that he will face any further punishment from the league, leaving him free to resume team activities upon his reinstatement.

Adrian Peterson's Agent Ruining Trade Chances?

Of course, there is the small matter of Peterson not wanting to play for the Vikings anymore and whether or not they will trade him. The back has stated that he wants out of Minnesota and that he would love to end up with the Dallas Cowboys. To this point, there have not been substantial negotiations between the teams, although nothing should be ruled out.

But according to The Dallas Morning News, a previous trade between Dallas and Minnesota could be influencing the Adrian Peterson negotiations. In 1989, the Cowboys traded Herschel Walker to the Vikings in what is still the largest trade in NFL history. The Cowboys overwhelmingly won the trade, and many Vikings fans are still bitter about it.

Dallas Drafting 'The Next DeMarco Murray?'

Now that the tables are turned, the Vikings could be using Jerry Jones' well-known desire to have Peterson to try and extract a similar haul from Dallas, including multiple valuable draft picks and possibly some players. While it seems so far that Jones has avoided taking the bait, he does have a history of not being able to help himself when it comes to acquiring star players, and that should make Cowboys fans nervous.

Still, Peterson would undoubtedly boost Dallas's chances at a Super Bowl in the near future, but the question would be whether the long-term cost is worth it to the franchise.
