Danny Tartabull, a 14-year Major League Baseball pro and former All-Star, has become the most wanted deadbeat father in Los Angeles, according to reports.
Tartabull has owes more than $275,000 in child support for his two sons, and was charged in January 2011 with failure to pay it. He pleaded no contest, but did not meet his probation terms and then did not show up for his 180-day jail sentence.
Now, there is a warrant out for the arrest of Tartabull, which has been out for more than a year. If authorities can catch up with the former baseball player, he's subject to increased fines and jail times for eluding the law.
Tartabull was born in Puerto Rico, and broke into the big leagues in 1984 with the Seattle Mariners. He finished fifth in Rookie of the Year voting in 1986, when he batted .270 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI.
In 14 seasons Tartabull donned the uniforms of the Mariners, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics. His best years were as a Royal.
In 1991 in Kansas City, Tartabull was selected to his first and only All-Star game, finishing the year with a .316 batting average, 31 home runs and 100 RBI. For his career Tartabull hit .273, socked 262 tater shots, and averaged 107 RBI per season.
According to reports Tartabull earned more than $30 million in his baseball career, and once signed a five-year, $25 million pact with the Yankees in 1991. His face is appearing on a poster issued by the Los Angeles Police Department, and according to the poster, Tartabull owes more money than every other person on it combined.
