You don't get a shot at a UFC title belt unless you are a fearless fighter. But Irish mixed martial artist Conor McGregor is ridiculously fearless.

The UFC featherweight contender sat down with Esquire magazine for an in-depth interview this month, and the discussion naturally revolved around his opponents, both real (Jose Aldo) and hypothetical (boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr.).

It's no surprise that McGregor has little respect for Jose Aldo—he's already stolen the latter's title belt at their UFC 189 press conference, and hopped the Octagon cage to scream in Aldo's face following his easy win over Dennis Siver at UFC Fight Night 159.

What's perhaps more surprising is how dismissive McGregor is of Mayweather. Mayweather, as we all know, is an undefeated fighter and largely considered one of the pound-for-pound greatest boxers in human history. None of that matters to McGregor, though.

“I look at him as a rookie in ten other areas," he told Esquire's Chris Jones. "If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather—pound-for-pound boxing’s best—if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than thirty seconds. It would take me less than thirty seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him.”

If only we had the opportunity to make this bout happen. Until that very unlikely scenario ever comes to pass, we'll have to be content with each fighter's upcoming matches as they are. Mayweather takes the rin against Manny Pacquiao on May 2, while UFC fans can catch McGregor face Jose Aldo at UFC 189 in July.
