No one can say Duke Blue Devils freshman point guard Tyus Jones didn’t leave his mark on the program during his one year in Durham.

Before Jones was even officially a member of the university, he texted future coach Mike Kryzezewksi following the team’s upset loss to Mercer in the 2014 tournament. His message? “This won’t happen next year.”

One year later, Jones and Coach K were cutting down the nets in Indianapolis after a 68-63 championship victory over Wisconsin. Jones was named the tourney’s Most Outstanding Player.

Now Jones is taking his talents to the next logical place—the NBA.

Jones possesses excellent court vision, a true selfless streak, the ability and confidence to take over big moments, and a knack for limiting turnovers.

However, he’s undersized and underweight when it comes to pro point guards, and his field goal percentage leaves much to be desired (too streaky at just 41% overall).

Jones is probably not a strong enough prospect to go in the lottery like fellow teammates Justise Winslow and Jahlil Okafor, but most big boards have him going between 15-25.

Should that scenario pan out, it would be a wonderful situation for Jones. He’d most likely be going to a good playoff team with a strong cast of veterans and a solid coaching staff/system in place.
