The NBA's Players Union has crafted a response to the NYPD's arrest of Atlanta Hawks guard Thabo Sefalosa following a stabbing incident outside the 1 Oak nightclub on early Wednesday morning. The physical force with which Sefalosa was taken into custody resulted in a fractured tibia that has ended his season.

Sefalosa was a key contributor for the first place Hawks off the bench this year. His loss, while not cataclysmic, does portend for interesting ramifications in the upcoming Eastern Conference playoffs.

Video of Sefalosa's violent arrest first leaked to TMZ Sports last night.

The Players Union is especially unhappy with the fact that Sefalosa was apparently forced to do the perp walk with the broken leg, and that it remained unaddressed and untreated for hours.

“The players’ union is concerned about the circumstances of Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic’s arrest and is doing its own investigation of the situation,” NBPA spokeswoman Tara Greco said, via ESPN.

The union was fully engaged in supporting all three players in court and in the precinct this week, and will continue to stay engaged as each situation evolves."
