The Philadelphia Eagles landed arguably the best offensive player available in free agency this offseason when they signed former Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray. He agreed to come to Philly after receiving a substantially better offer from them than anyone else, and now the NFL's leading rusher from 2014 will see what he can do in Chip Kelly's up-tempo offensive scheme.

Obviously reactions were mixed from Cowboys fans, some of whom were glad that the Cowboys did not overpay to keep Murray. Others felt betrayed that he would join a division rival. From Murray's perspective he was thankful for his time in Dallas and anxious for his new opportunity. He also got a friendly warning about the fans from a former Philadelphia athlete, according to NESN.

Shane Victorino was an outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies for many years before getting traded to the Dodgers and eventually landing with the Red Sox. "The Flyin' Hawaiian," as Victorino was known, was a fan favorite for his hard-nosed style of play and for his willingness to do whatever the team required. He recently received a big ovation from the fans during his first return to the city in an opposing uniform.

He also took the time to text Murray about the fans of the city, who are notoriously hard to please.

"I tell athletes all the time... (and) I texted DeMarco when he signed here," Victorino said after a Boston win in Philly earlier this week. "I said, 'If there's a city that you want to win in and understand as an athlete how important it is to win in a city like this with them falling in love with you as an athlete... this is one of the best.' I'm very appreciative."

"When you talk about winning in a city like (Philadelphia) and to be loved as an athlete," Victorino continued, "that's what it's all about. It's fun. I said, 'DeMarco, go do what you do, and you'll be fine.' I mean, he's going to be loved here (in Philadelphia)."
