Lauren Hill, the Mt. St. Joseph University student athlete who scored in mutiple basketball games despite playing with an inoperable brain tumor, passed away on Friday morning. She was 19 years old.

Hill became an icon to millions across the country for her perseverance and grace in the face of her own mortality. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of playing basketball on the college level, and raised a fortune for cancer research with the publicity her journey afforded her.
Doctors originally predicted that Hill would not live to see 2015, but fighter that she was, she gave friends and family three more invaluable months of her presence. She leaves this world an inspiration, a hero, and a role model.

"She's made an impact on the world, more so than me -- more than I ever will do," her coach Dan Benjamin said, via Fox Sports. "I've gotten so many emails and phone calls from all over the world. People are contacting me because they want to share her story."
