It's the first piece of good news for the Pistorius family in some time.

ENCA.com is reporting that Carl Pistorius, Oscar's older brother, will not face prosecution for refusing to give a statement following a car crash that nearly took his life on Aug. 1, 2014.

A British politician running for office decided to dress up as Oscar Pistorius and post photos on his Facebook page

"Instead, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has ordered that the other driver involved in the accident - Mkhalani Mchabe - be charged with reckless and negligent driving," ENCA.com reported.

According to a report from mirror.co.uk, Pistorius was driving back from a business trip from Polokwane to Pretoria in the province of Limpopo in South Africa when Mchabe's car, traveling in the opposite direction, swerved into Pistorius' lane and collided with his car head-on.

Mother of Oscar Pistorius' slain girlfriend says she didn't know about Blade Runner's "mafia lifestyle"

"The Blade Runner's older brother is believed to have broken his right arm, leg, and left foot, as well as suffering lacerations to his liver and heart as he traveled back from a business trip," the Mirror reported. Pistorius initially was reported in critical condition when he entered a Pretoria hospital.

After Pistorius recovered, he did not give police a statement about his version of events that night, and police threatened to prosecute him earlier this year. According to ENCA, Pistorius now is willing to testify against Mchabe and will be a witness at his trial.

Pistorius still is required to give a statement on the crash before Mchabe's trial begins.

Oscar Pistorius still awaits word on when the appeals trial of his culpable homicide conviction before the South Africa Court of Appeals will take place. Prosecutors will get another chance to push for a murder charge stemming from Oscar Pistorius' Valentine's Day, 2013 shooting of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in their home.

Pistorius has maintained he mistook her for an intruder. He currently is serving a five-year sentence at Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria but is eligible for house arrest after serving one-sixth of that sentence which is up in August.

Legal analysts believe Pistorius will get to leave prison before his appeals trial takes place.
