The Los Angeles Angels (34-43) and the Detroit Tigers (42-33) will meet for a Wednesday night matchup at Comerica Park. The first pitch is set for 7:08 p.m. ET and will air live on Fox Detroit and stream live on MLB.com.

Jose Alvarez (1-0) looks to impress in his third career major league start. The Tigers called up the pitcher from Triple-A Toledo while Anibal Sanchez is facing an injury.

He has allowed just three runs in 11 innings pitched during his two starts. He is coming off a no decision effort in which the Tigers captured a 4-3 win over the Red Sox on Thursday.

He will face a Los Angeles lineup that beat Detroit 14-8 in the series opener for their seventh consecutive victory over the Tigers. During the past 12 contests, the Angels have hit .311 and scored at least runs in five games. Otherwise, the Angels have scored as many runs in just four outings during their previous 65 contests.

The Tigers defense weren't helping their cause either. Detroit allowed six total errors, the most by a team since the Pirates committed seven during a 12-2 loss to the Cubs on Sept. 7.

"It was just an ugly night for us," manager Jim Leyland said. "Obviously, they hit the ball all over the place and we didn't make some plays."

Tommy Hanson (4-2) will get the start for Los Angeles. He benefited from a strong offensive performance during his last outing against Seattle. He allowed seven earned runs in two innings and received a no decision.

"I think I was just pulling my pitches," he told the team's official website. "They were getting too much of the plate and they let me know."
