The Philadelphia Eagles won the NFC East in 2013, and they just missed the playoffs in 2014 despite a 10-6 record for the season. The team has plenty of cap space after releasing a few high-priced veterans and trading star running back LeSean McCoy, but could they have trouble spending all the extra money?

According to SportsGrid, head coach Chip Kelly, despite his reputation as both a player's coach and a winner, may actually hurt Philadelphia's chances at luring some big names to the City of Brotherly Love. Kelly now has final say on all personnel moves, making him the de facto general manager, and free agents surely noticed the moves Kelly has made over the last week.

Kelly released the two longest-tenured players on the roster in order to free up cap space, and the he traded away star running back LeSean McCoy for basically the same reason. Players could view it as a lack of loyalty on Kelly's part.

Obviously, players want to be financially secure, but they also want to make sure they have a team that they can call their own. If players feel that Kelly's loyalty ultimately lies with his (admittedly successful) system, then they may opt to sign deals with other teams that they think will be less willing to trade or release them at the drop of a hat.

The Eagles are still a contender, so their money will be hard to say no to, but when teams are pushing for playoff spots, even one or two small upgrades can make a world of difference. If a few players elect to sign elsewhere instead of with Philadelphia, it could leave the Eagles with another not-quite-good-enough finish in 2015. If that happens, Kelly may need to take a look in the mirror to figure out how to fix things.
