Running back DeMarco Murray said he would be open to remaining with the Dallas Cowboys if the team's contract offer matches or is substantially close to propositions he gets from other teams when he hits the market as an unrestricted free agent.

According to ESPN, Murray expects a "vigorous" market for him as he is coming off of a season where he was the NFL's rushing leader. Murray, 27, made $1.4 million last season to rank 23rd among running backs.

Murray is coming off of a 2014 campaign where he led the NFL with 392 carries, 1,845 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.

Murray also set career-highs with 57 receptions and 416 receiving yards while setting franchise records in carries and single-season rushing yards, surpassing Emmitt Smith's mark for rushing yards.

Smith rushed for 1,773 yards on the ground in 1995, a record that held up until Murray eclipsed it last season.

The running back also had 12 games last season where he rushed for 100 yards or more and set a record by carrying the ball for over 100 yards in each of his first eight games.

Murray dealt with a broken hand, but played in every Cowboys game in the 2014 season for the first time in his career.

Murray remains open to a return to Dallas, but it will be interesting to see where he ends up and if he generates the interest he is expecting from other clubs.

The fourth-year player was a driving force behind the Cowboys going 12-4 and winning the NFC East for the first time since 2009 last season.

Murray also played in both playoff games for Dallas, accumulating 198 yards on the ground off of 44 carries and finding the end zone twice in what marked his first postseason.

The Cowboys defeated the Detroit Lions in the wild-card round before falling to the Green Bay Packers in a controversial game in the divisional round.

For now, Murray's future is up in the air.
