The Brooklyn Nets are in the Bottom Top 5 of the Eastern Conference. They would miss the playoffs this year, but more teams are looking to recruit forward Cam Johnson if the Nets decide to move him this offseason.
Before the trade deadline, Johnson was one of the hottest rumored trade targets, but it did not materialize when the big day came. The latest report, however, hinted that he wouldn't be vacant this offseason if Brooklyn plans to rebuild around younger players.
Cam Johnson's Value Continues to Rise
According to Sports Illustrated, Cam Johnson posted career-high numbers this season, putting up 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game on a highly efficient 47.5% clip from the field and 39.0% from three. The statistics have attracted plenty of attention from playoff teams, and he is the most likely player to be traded.
In spite of high demand during the trade deadline in February, the Nets decided to hold on to Johnson, indicating a willingness to consider their long-term plan before letting go of one of their best assets. Nevertheless, with only three games remaining in the regular season, rumors about Johnson's future are once again intensifying.
HoopsHype reported that the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves were interested in the 28-year-old shooter at the trade deadline.
Western Conference Teams Queue Up for Johnson's Services
Several Western Conference teams are likely to chase Johnson, especially those who want to strengthen their rosters with a dynamic, shooting forward. The Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, and Dallas Mavericks are all said to be following the situation closely.
Up to 10 teams have recently inquired with the Nets on Cam Johnson as his trade market takes off:

With a rich draft cupboard and young talent, the Rockets might be able to make a solid offer. The addition of Johnson would add playoff experience and three-point shooting to a team looking to turn the corner from rebuilding to a contender.
For the Nuggets, recruiting Johnson will make a big turnaround for the roster. After a disappointing campaign and front office turnovers—the dismissals of GM Calvin Booth and head coach Mike Malone- the Nuggets could look to overhaul their foundation. Johnson might serve as a suitable replacement if the team does make good on prior trade discussions for Michael Porter Jr.
Johnson would also make a good fit for the Dallas Mavericks. He would provide scoring depth and defensive stability that Kyrie Irving and Davis can lean on.
Brooklyn Nets Eyeing NBA Draft and Long-Term Assets
The Nets' short-term attention is on the May NBA Draft Lottery, but they are set to aggressively pursue trade deals for Johnson after the draft order is determined.
Brooklyn's front office is said to be seeking draft assets and youth, looking to construct a stable core for the long term.
Trading Johnson might give the Nets assets while enabling Johnson to play for a legitimate contender. It's a win-win situation if the proper deal emerges—one that aids Brooklyn's rebuild and provides Johnson an opportunity to pursue a title.
