Much has been made about the quarterbacks that will be available in the upcoming NFL draft. Everybody knows about Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, but Baylor's Bryce Petty and UCLA's Brett Hundley also could turn out to be viable starting quarterbacks in the NFL someday.

Character Concerns Not Scaring Bucs Away From Jameis Winston

One person that is underwhelmed by the 2015 quarterback class is Phil Simms, according to CBS Sports. He thinks the class lacks depth, implying that beyond Winston and Mariota, there is really nothing to offer teams that need quarterback help.

"It's a bad group and that's a kind way of saying it. It just really is. Overall, just doing the whole group together, there's really not a lot to get excited about," Simms said. "There's no depth to it. Last year you had some late-round picks who could really throw the ball. There's no such thing this year."

Simms goes on to say that he thinks Winston is easily "the best thrower" among this year's prospects, and he also says that he thinks Mariota is "absolutely not" a natural thrower.

For the uninitiated, Simms does not exactly have a sterling track record when it comes to analyzing quarterbacks (or really football in general). He famously questioned Andrew Luck's arm strength during Luck's pre-draft workouts, only for Luck to prove over and over again that he has an absolute cannon while becoming one the NFL's top signal callers.

Perhaps Simms will be right about this year's quarterbacks, but nobody should be surprised if this is just the latest in a long line of incorrect assertions by the former Giants great.
