The road to WrestleMania 31 is in full swing and throughout the years the biggest event on the WWE calendar has shaped careers, provided memories that will last a lifetime and has been a showcase for the greatest matches in the history of the company.

5 Possible Matches for WrestleMania 31 Coiming Out Of Fastlane

Over the next month, Sports World News will delve into each of the first 30 WrestleMania events and dissect the best moments in each edition of the landmark show.

The "Show of Shows" began in 1985 when Vince McMahon launched the inaugural WrestleMania event on March 31, 1985, live from the mecca of Madison Square Garden in New York City.

A crowd of 19,121 rabid fans packed the World's Most Famous Arena to watch what at the time was the biggest show in wrestling history.

Here are our three best moments from WWE WrestleMania I:

3) New Tag Team Champions: The first title change in WrestleMania history saw Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik defeat the U.S. Express (Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham) to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships.

The heel team used under-handed tactics to win the bout, as the Iron Sheik took manager Freddie Blassie's cane and hit Windham in the head with it, allowing Volkoff to pick up the pinfall win and the titles.

2) Hogan and Mr. T Stand Tall: The main event put the show on the map as Hulk Hogan teamed up with Mr. T to battle "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff in the final bout.

The babyface team was flanked by Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka while "Cowboy" Bob Orton managed the heels.

The finish saw Orton accidentally hit Orndorff in the head with his cast from the top rope, allowing Hogan to notch the pin and the win for his team and a new tradition was born as the crowd erupted.

1) Andre Slams Studd: The greatest moment on the WrestleMania I card saw two titans collide as Andre the Giant put his career on the line and took on Big John Studd in a $15,000 bodyslam match.

While the bout itself was far from a five-star classic, one of the most iconic moments in WrestleMania history occurred when Andre slammed Studd to the mat to win the match and the money purse.

The gentile giant then began to throw some of the $15,000 cash prize out to the crowd, much to the chagrin of Studd and his manager Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.

With a new tradition born and WrestleMania I being a huge success, the WWE would go for three-times the fun in 1986 as WrestleMania 2 emanated from three different arenas in three different cities.
