Tonight at 10 p.m. ET, the Los Angeles Kings (26-18-12, 64 points) and Colorado Avalanche (24-22-11, 59 points) face-off for the first of three meetings this season live from the Pepsi Center in Colorado.

Los Angeles has won five straight games and opens up a two-match road trip while Colorado has won two consectutive contests and closes out a four-game home stand.

The Kings are only two points out of the final wild-card spot, which is held by the San Jose Sharks (66 points), who they will face in the NHL Stadium Series this Saturday at Levi's Stadium in California.

The Avalanche are seven points out of a playoff spot, with plenty of teams to jump to get there.

Jeff Carter has paced Los Angeles this season with 43 points off of 16 goals and 27 assists. Anze Kopitar is second on the team with 42 points off of 12 markers and 30 assists while Tyler Toffoli has found the back of the net 18 times and added 18 assists for 36 points.

The Kings will look to beat goaltender Semyon Varlamov, who enters the game with a 16-14-7 overall record to go along with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage.

Colorado, meanwhile, has been led by Jarome iginla as he has 40 points off of 18 goals and 22 assists. Alex Tanguay is second on the team with 38 points off of 15 tallies and 23 helpers while Matt Duchene has lit the lamp 15 times and added 22 assists for 37 points.

The Avalanche will look to solve Kings netminder Jonathan Quick, who is 22-15-10 with a 2.49 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.
