When Vernon Adams announced that he would be transferring to Oregon to play quarterback, the natural reaction was for everyone to wonder if he was the next Marcus Mariota. While it is way too early to tell how good Adams will be at Oregon, the one thing we know for sure is that Eastern Washington is not handling his departure with any kind of grace or class.

Adams has been great at Eastern Washington, but he is on track to graduate in the spring. Because of that, he can attend graduate school at another college and use his remaining eligibility playing for them without having to sit out a year for transferring.

Eastern Washington is not okay with move, and they have banned Adams from team facilities, according to CBS Sports. "We're not rolling out the red carpet around here for a guy that's playing against us Game One," said Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin. "He's going to have to figure out where to work out."

Eastern Washington and Oregon will face each other to open the 2015 season. Adams is only barred from team facilities, meaning he could still use the on-campus gym that any student can get into. He will be enrolling in Oregon over the summer, so the situation will only be an issue for a couple of months.

This is just the latest act by Eastern Washington in a series of maneuvers that have made them seem like sore losers after Adams announced his decision to transfer.

Eastern Washington athletic director Bill Chaves issued the following passive-aggressive statement when Adams informed everyone that he was transferring:

"We wish Vernon the best in his future endeavors and thank him for all that he has done for Eastern," Chaves said in the statement. "The chance for him to pursue this opportunity is certainly a unique one given the fifth-year transfer rule. We are not sure that this was the actual intent of legislation when it was approved, but it is the rule currently in place that we and potentially other schools have to adhere to. We will continue to work through the process of this transfer based on the rule as it stands now."

Stay classy, EWU.
