Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, the Toronto Maple Leafs (23-28-4, 50 points) and New York Islanders (35-18-1, 71 points) face-off for the third and final time this season live from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island.

Toronto has lost six of its last seven games and opens up a two-match road trip while New York has won two consecutive games and continues a four-game home stand.

The Islanders enter play on to pof the Metropolitan Division while the Maple Leafs 13 points behind the Boston Bruins for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The first time these two teams met, the Maple Leafs topped the Islanders 5-2. This will mark Toronto's final visit to New York's Nassau Coliseum before the Isles move to Brooklyn next season.

The Islanders come in off of a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday and goalie Jaroslav Halak will look to extend his career-high in wins to 30.

"He has worked extremely hard and is competitive, aggressive," coach Jack Capuano told NHL.com. "He's been a great teammate for us and he's a big part of the reason why we are where we are in the standings."

Halak is tied for third in the NHL with 29 wins and has a 2.40 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage this season.

Toronto will counter with Jonathan Bernier and he is 16-16-4 with a 2.76 GAA and a .914 save percentage.

Bernier will try to stop an Islanders team that has been led offensively by John Tavares as he has a team-best 51 points off of 24 goals and 27 assists. Ryan Strome is also having a nice season for New York, ranking third on the team with 34 points off of nine tallies and 25 helpers.

The Maple Leafs have been struggling and enter play off of a 5-4 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

They know they're in for a challenge against New York.

"They've got dangerous players," interim coach Pete Horacek said. "I think that Tavares is one of the best players that's out there. He's underrated. He doesn't get a lot of credit for what he does. I think he is a very talented guy. They are dangerous. They can score, they can transition. ...We have to be prepared and play a motivated, strong game."

Phil Kessel has paced Toronto with 47 points off of 21 goals and 26 assists this season while James van Riemsdyk has 43 points off of 21 markers and 22 helpers.

The Maple Leafs visit long Island for the last time when the Islanders host them live tonight from the Nassau Coliseum.
