The Seattle Seahawks narrowly missed out on winning their second consecutive Super Bowl when a last-minute pass by Russell Wilson was intercepted near the goal line, allowing New England to kneel out the clock. Marshawn Lynch has been a focal point of much of the fallout after the game, as nearly everyone seems to agree that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll should have given Beast Mode a crack at finding the end zone on the ground.

In the wake of the incident, people have discussed Lynch's relationship with Carroll, his future with the team, and his impending contract negotiations, as 2015 is the last year left on Lynch's contract with Seattle.

According to The Score, the team may be without Lynch next season regardless of what they try to do about his contract, as the star running back is apparently considering retirement.

General manager John Schneider admitted as much during a press conference this week, saying, "Whether or not he wants to play next year, I can't answer at this point. I don't think he knows yet. Obviously we would like a decision as soon as possible so we can make a decision and move on if we need to."

Schneider has previously indicated that the team will re-do Lynch's contract this offseason, one way or another, although they would like to have the focal point of their offense back next season.

If an agreement with Lynch cannot be reached and the running back decides not to retire, the team would likely release him, which would make him a free agent.
