The Los Angeles Lakers are having a down season thanks to a lack of talent and some injuries to key players. One of the injured players happens to be franchise icon Kobe Bryant, who will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on a torn rotator cuff.

Now that he only has to focus on rehabilitating his shoulder and not the day-to-day rigors of playing through an NBA season, Kobe has a little more free time. He recently used some of that time to appear on The Tonight Show and chat with Jimmy Fallon while the show is spending a week filming in Los Angeles.

While on the show, it was revealed that Fallon and Bryant had not hung out together since 1996. Oddly enough, the last time the two spent time together, it was because they were making a beer run.

The other interesting thing about the story is that 1996 was the year that Bryant was draft. For those that do not remember, Kobe was one of several players to enter the NBA in the mid- and late-nineties straight out of high school.

In other words, Kobe was definitely not 21 years old at the time of the beer run with Fallon, meaning he was below the legal drinking age. I guess Lakers players can get away with anything in Los Angeles.
