Experts have gone back and forth about whether Marcus Mariota or Jameis Winston is the best quarterback prospect available in the upcoming NFL draft. One thing everyone does agree on is that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should select one of the two players with the top overall pick.

According to CBS Sports, the Buccaneers may already know who they want to take with the top overall selection. Reports indicate that "there's a real sense that Tampa Bay has its sights set on Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. So for now, Mariota shapes up as the most likely No. 1 pick."
There are obviously still several months between now and the draft, and the team will surely evaluate both Mariota and Winston closely. The NFL combine still has to happen, and whether they attend the combine or not, each player will have a pro day at their school.

In addition to watching the players work out on their pro days, the team will conduct interviews with each player, as well as their coaches, teammates, and anyone else that may have some insight into the type of person each young man has become.
The major concern surrounding Mariota is whether he would require time to adapt to a pro-style offense. Nobody doubts his ability to learn a new scheme, but many think Winston would be able to step into a pro-style scheme right away.
Winston, however, has his own red flags. Many teams are concerned about his character after his numerous run-ins with authorities during his time at Florida State.
Still, if Tampa Bay does indeed want to select Mariota at number one, then it could have a ripple effect around the league. The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in trading up to select Mariota, but if they cannot get him because of Tampa Bay, then they will likely try to continue developing Nick Foles.
If the Eagles keep Foles, that leaves the St. Louis Rams without a clear solution at quarterback. The team is reportedly interested in trading for Foles, but Philadelphia will almost certainly keep him if they cannot get Mariota because of Tampa's interest in him.
