Listening to the San Francisco 49ers' new quarterbacks coach talk, Colin Kaepernick can suspend his work with Kurt Warner at any time.

Whether that's good news or bad news for 49ers fans remains to be seen.

Kurt Warner impressed by Colin Kaepernick's chalkboard knowledge; can he transfer that onto the field?

Multiple media reports have indicated that 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula has promoted quarterbacks coach Geep Chryst to offensive coordinator. On the heels of that hire, the San Jose Mercury News reported that former East Carolina head coach Steve Logan will take over Chryst's old job as quarterbacks coach and become Kaepernick's mentor - once Warner is through with him.

Logan, according to NinersNation.com, has spent the last two years working in media in North Carolina. And it's easy to see why he jumped at the chance to work with Kaepernick.

Colin Kaepernick not the reason the 49ers took so long to hire an offensive coordinator

Radio station WRAL "Sports Fan" in North Carolina recorded a 45-minute interview with Logan on Jan. 9, prior to the NFC Divisional Round playoff game between the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks, discussing various quarterback-related topics - one of which was about mobility vs. accuracy.

"But I'll still take the mobility at the sacrifice of accuracy," he said. You can have the accuracy and lose the mobility, and now you've got Tom Brady. that's good. But guess what, Rex Ryan, the Baltimore Ravens, go look at Tom Brady's numbers against those two defenses, they fall dramatically. I still want a mobile quarterback."

His philosophy is based on a practical fact about the NFL that he explained earlier in the conversation.

"The offense plays with 10 people, the defense plays with 11. The defense can bring one more guy than I can defend with. When that happens, what are we going to do?"

Keep in mind that the interview was almost three weeks ago, before he knew he'd be coaching Colin Kaepernick, but his hire seems like a fit for what Kaepernick was before his attempted recreation with Warner.

"You guys can have Tom Brady, you guys can have Peyton Manning," Logan said. "I got it; win Super Bowls. Here we go ...

"Give me a mobile quarterback."

No one questions Kaepernick's mobility, but he was sacked 52 times last season. That was second most in the league only to Jacksonville's Blake Bortles, who was sacked 55 times. The whole reason he teamed up with Warner was to make him more than just a "mobile quarterback."

But no matter how Kaepernick's offseason goes, figure that his rushing total should go up in 2015 under Logan's tutelage.
