Life's a beach at the University of Central Florida. Literally.
The school announced plans on Monday to build a 10,000 square foot beach and accompanying lounge (dubbed the East Side Club) inside their football stadium, beginning next season.
"The whole idea was we’re in Central Florida and we want everyone to know where we are," said Zack Lassiter, UCF senior associate athletic director for external operations, per The Orlando Sentinel. "It’s November and we’re wearing shorts and flip flops and it’d be great to showcase our community, and so the idea came up to do some kind of premium experience on the east side.”
In addition to the beach characteristics, the section will also featured a covered lounge and social space, special parking amenities, VIP access to the stadium, private bathrooms, and WiFi. Membership will start at $900. More photos and information of the East Side Club are available on UCF's website.
On today of all days, as the Northeast is about to get absolutely hammered by a superstorm blizzard, this is just the latest in a never-ending series of opportunities for all of us northerners to kick ourselves for not choosing to go to college in the south.
