Troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns is once again facing a suspension for the league after violating the league's substance abuse policy. If the suspension is upheld, Gordon will face a one-year ban.

Gordon has previously failed multiple drug tests for marijuana, which have led to his previous suspensions under the league's substance abuse policy. However, according to ESPN, this time Gordon tested positive for alcohol.

"Clearly we are very disappointed to hear the latest report regarding Josh," the Browns said in a statement after news of the suspension broke. "At this point, due to the confidential nature of the NFL's substance-abuse policy, we have not been made aware by the league of a failed test. We are in the process of gathering more information and will provide further comment at the appropriate time."

Gordon was arrested for DWI in July of 2014, which made him subject to alcohol testing. His failure counts as another offense because of Gordon's previous infractions.

The suspension raises questions about Gordon's future in the NFL, and it seems likely that the Browns will elect to part ways with the young wideout. Gordon led the league in receiving yards in 2013 despite playing in only 14 games.

Gordon missed the first two games of the 2013 season because of a suspension after testing positive for marijuana. Gordon also missed the first 10 games of the 2014 season for another positive test. The suspension was initially for the entire year, but it was reduced when the league implemented a new drug testing policy.

Reactions to the suspension were mixed. Some expressed disbelief over Gordon being reckless enough to fail another drug test. Others were outraged that the new suspension was for alcohol. Gordon had defenders after his marijuana suspensions because of the drug's legality in some states. Alcohol, however, is legal everywhere, and Gordon is above the legal drinking age.
