Yesterday was the first Sunday without NFL football in a long time (no, the Pro Bowl doesn't count), so it's that time of year when the NBA takes over that real estate with some choice match-ups. Yesterday's nationally televised game was between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat, and it served as a coming out party for Hassan Whiteside.

The 25-year-old Miami center, who's averaged only 4 points and 4 rebounds per game in 37 career appearances, had the game of his life -- 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 blocks.

It was an absurdly unique performance. Whiteside became only the third sub to record a triple double containing blocks in the past 30 years. Also, doing it in just 23 minutes of action was the fastest any player has gotten to a block triple-double in that time span (both stats via Basketball Reference).

After the game, Whiteside was asked to talk about his motivation during his spectacular performance, and the center gave a hilariously honest answer:
