Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia still is trying to use current 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to land a coaching job in the NFL.

Garcia told KNBR 680 Radio in San Francisco that he still wants to coach Kaepernick, and since Kaepernick is spending the offseason with former two-time NFL MVP Kurt Warner and quarterbacks guru Dennis Gale, the only other way to coach him is to become a member of new coach Jim Tomsula's staff on the 49ers.

Jeff Garcia offers to help struggling 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick

"Well, you start by hiring Jeff Garcia as his quarterback coach," Garcia said. "So you start right there.

Garcia originally offered to help the struggling 49ers quarterback at the end of December before Kaepernick decided to go with Warner and Gile. According to Ninersnation.com, Garcia tweeted out an article titled "Kaepernick's coach choice couldn't be more wrong for job," adding "I didn't say it but I thought it." He later deleted his comments, ninersnation.com reported, and left the article."

Jeff Garcia angling for an NFL coaching job through Colin Kaepernick?

CSNBayArea.com reported that Garcia is trying to land a coaching job in the NFL, which is why he sees an opportunity through Kaepernick.

"And then, we dig deep down into his film, and we watch how he has played the game," Garcia added on KNBR. "And we go through the process of just his decision-making, timing, his speed in the pocket, how he drops (back), how he gets the ball out on time, what he's seeing, from the standpoint of how he recognizes defenses, defensive fronts, secondary, linebacker location, all those things in his pre-snap, his post-snap read.

"But then it has to come down to how quickly he processes information. And how he can narrow down his information to making the right decision and then getting a ball out that is accurate, that is catchable and allowing guys to be able to make plays."

What makes Garcia different from Warner, he believes, is that Garcia had some mobility, which is what has given Kaepernick his name so far in the NFL, whereas Warner was strictly a drop-back passer.

"He has showcased the ability to be dynamic at times, and especially with his legs," Garcia said. "But as we also have seen this past year, I believe they led the league or were close to the front in the lead for sacks given up. Some of that may be attributed to the offensive line, but a lot of that falls on the quarterback's shoulders. You have to be able to get the ball out of your hands and you have to do it quickly and you have to do it in the right way. You have to be efficient and you have to be accurate."

Garcia wasn't able to convince Kaepernick the first time. Perhaps, Garcia will have better luck with Tomsula.
