The 2014 college football season is officially the year that Big Ten Football was back. The Michigan Wolverines brought in head coach Jim Harbaugh to revitalize their sagging program, and Urban Meyer led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a national championship in the first college football playoff system.
Jim Harbaugh Rooted For Ohio State For 'Big 10 Pride'
These two teams have one of the longest-standing rivalries in the sport (the 'Ten Years' War' over the 1960s and '70s, e.g.), but the rivalry's national prominence has waned in recent years due to the relative struggles of both teams. That's not the case anymore.
Harbaugh has been busy hitting the recruiting trail, and he's solidified his coaching staff by retaining incumbent defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, and bringing aboard another defensive-minded wizard in DJ Durkin. The Wolverines are going to be a tough, driven squad next year in the model of their coach. Because coach Harbaugh is nothing if not driven.

Michigan Strengthens Coaching Staff
Urban Meyer, meanwhile? He's been soaking in the fame that deservedly comes with a national title win (his third). Moreover, he stoked the flames of the rivalry in an upcoming appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, when he openly refused to even utter Michigan's name on television. Watch below:
