The Cleveland Cavaliers have struggled so far this season, and their team has generated a ton of headlines, as you would expect from a team that profiled as a title contender that has underperformed. Many of the stories have centered around star power forward Kevin Love and his contract situation.

Golden State Lucky They Didn't Get Love?

Love can opt out of his contract after the season and become a free agent, and many around the league expect him to do so. Rumors have swirled for months that Love would eventually like to play for his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Love grew up in souther California and played college basketball at UCLA.

Love himself has been noncommittal about his future, adding fuel to the fire. However, this week, he reversed course and said that he is committed to Cleveland. According to Cleveland.com, Love wants to stay around.

"I think that we will figure it out here, so I don't plan on opting out or any of that," said Love. "I plan on being here. As far as leaving my options open, I mean sure, it's always there. At the end of the day, it's always good to have something but no, I plan on being here."

If he picks up his option, Love will become a free agent in 2016 instead of 2015. He will likely receive a substantial pay increase that year, as the salary cap is expected to jump by several million dollars.

"I've said all along that I plan on being a Cavalier long-term," Love added. "As we continue to evolve, my role will continue to evolve. It's still a process where I'm figuring it out."
